INDIANAPOLIS, IN, UNITED STATES, September 16, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Indiana Builders Association (IBA) recently presented Governor Mike Braun with the National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) Defender of Housing Award in recognition of his support for housing and Indiana’s residential construction industry.
The NAHB Defender of Housing Award recognizes elected officials who have demonstrated strong support for housing and key issues facing the home building industry. Fashioned in the likeness of a traditional house key, the award is presented biennially.
IBA President Marcy DeShong presented the award to Braun, recognizing his understanding of the challenges facing home builders, remodelers and Hoosier families.
“Governor Braun understands the key issues facing home builders and remodelers in Indiana and the impact that legislation and regulation can have on the cost of housing,” DeShong said. “We appreciate his willingness to work with our industry as we continue addressing housing affordability and availability across the state.”
Braun has worked alongside IBA and housing advocates on policies aimed at addressing barriers to residential development and expanding housing opportunities in Indiana, including House Enrolled Act 1001, known as “Housing Matters,” which passed during the 2026 legislative session.
“The Defender of Housing Award honors our ongoing partnership with elected officials who, in many ways, create the blueprint for our businesses through their actions on legislation and regulation,” DeShong said. “It is my privilege to present this award to our friend and advocate, Governor Mike Braun.”
