Happn.Live Launches Free App That Puts the World’s Real Moments at Your Fingertips

New iOS and Android platform bypasses social media algorithms, connecting users directly with on-the-ground contributors through a decentralised, 24-hour live feed

SINGAPORE, SG / ACCESS Newswire / May 11, 2026 / Happn.Live, a new location-based social platform, today announced the official launch of its free mobile application on iOS and Android, giving users around the world on-demand access to real-time, unfiltered updates from any location on Earth – submitted by people who are physically present at that location.

The launch arrives as confidence in mainstream social media platforms continues to decline. According to the 2024 Edelman Trust Barometer, social media remains the least trusted information channel globally, with younger users – aged 18 to 34 – registering the sharpest drop in platform confidence over the past three years. Happn.Live is positioning itself as a direct alternative: a citizen-journalism network built around location and immediacy rather than follower counts, sponsored content, or algorithmic curation.

How the Platform Works

The app’s core feature is an interactive map that displays live photo and video updates – each capped at 30 seconds – from contributors at locations worldwide. Content is automatically deleted after 24 hours, ensuring the feed reflects current conditions rather than archived material.

A second feature, called Live Request, allows users to submit up to three location-specific questions per day – such as “What is the crowd like at this venue right now?” or “Is the road flooded near this area?” – that are routed to contributors within or near the specified area. A Priority Connection System matches requests with nearby users in real time, drawing on a decentralised contributor network rather than a central editorial team.

Users can monitor the status of their requests and contributions through a Live Activity Dashboard, which tracks engagement and network participation in real time. Sign-up requires only a Google or Apple ID.

“The problem we set out to solve is simple: when something is happening somewhere, the people best placed to report it are the people already there. We built Happn.Live to connect those people directly with everyone else who needs to know – without a filter in between.”

Privacy and Safety

The platform displays general location data – such as an area or named venue – rather than precise GPS coordinates. Content moderation is supported by community guidelines, an in-app reporting tool accessible via a three-tap menu, and account-level blocking functionality. Users can request permanent account and data deletion through the app’s settings.
